Renewables are one of the solutions that the region can benefit from shifting its energy mix to clean energy. Indeed, the whole area is blessed with substantial solar and wind resources that can be harnessed and developed. These technologies have been deployed in many countries, including the UAE, Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman,…etc.
It is to be noted that Solar PV and wind energy are key drivers behind the fast-growing share of renewables in the generation of electricity. However, any renewable energy project's success lies in several factors that we can cite: policy and regulations, technology performance, project planning and management, financial resources and mechanisms, and the availability of a specialised workforce.
On the other hand, project actors such as decisions makers, funding institutions, EPCs, developers, and utilities play important roles in mitigating risks and ensuring project implementation success.
Experts worldwide believe that to achieve renewable energy national target, policies need to be in place by implementing appropriate strategies and road maps. The strategies should cover the whole supply chain starting from R&D until the commercialisation stage.
In this context, the European Union Delegation to State of Kuwait, the EU-GCC Clean Energy Technology Network and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) with the support of the Clean Energy Business Council (CEBC) organise a virtual workshop on successful implementation of renewables energy projects. The webinar aims to exchange relevant best practices, information, and lessons learned and advance regional initiatives to scale up renewables energies integration. It will also discuss the challenges facing the area and what countries can do to tackle these challenges to ensure a smooth and sustainable energy transition. The event will be held virtually on Wednesday 7 April 2021 at 13.00 CET / 15.00 GST.
